History of Our World and Ship[]
Before electricity, amazing steam engineers provided the world with robotic inventions, portable computation devices, and other awe inspiring contraptions for everyday life. In the mid 1870’s, Thomas Edison and his company started bringing the world into what he called “the future”, turning people from steam to electricity claiming it to be safer, more efficient and cheaper. Within a matter of years nearly all of Britain had turned from steam to electricity and then the unthinkable happened. The machines turned on the human consumers with deadly outcome. The struggle to survive became an 8 year war between the electrical powers of Edison Corp and the Steam Contingent. The war didn’t take place in a far off field of battle, but in homes, on street corners, and everywhere the electricity had gone. Through propaganda and fear, starvation and murder, Edison Corp turned people against one another, and began converting them to drones of the side of electricity.
By the end of the war only a few factions of the Steam Contingent remained, most of them turning into mercenary crews hiding in the shadows or cloaked in clouds high above the Edison towers. The Airship Annabel Lee, once a formidable airship of the Queen’s Royal Airship Fleet, had been long abandoned by her crew, but with pieces and tools scavenged from the wreckage that is Great Britain, Captain Fenix and her loyal friend ARC began piecing her back together again. They eventually found Pixy, an eccentric wanderer with had a knack for engineering, and she got the Annabel Lee back in the air. Since then they have been picking up crew members, the occasional passengers, and odd jobs, still determined to one day see the end of Edison’s reign over the world.
